I wanted to own my tools.
I photograph concerts, events and weddings. I know what it means to come home with a card full of photographs and a lot of work still to do.
RedLnx grew out of that work. An archive I can manage, an editor I can go deep into, and automation that learns from my decisions. All on my own computer.
I’m building it alone, but I’m not building from nothing. Parts of the engine come from darktable’s work, ported and adapted in Rust. Immich was a crucial reference for the library and local machine learning. There are many more people and projects in the credits.
I use AI-assisted development tools too. The decisions and the responsibility for what I ship are mine.
Pay if you want. Use it either way.
Keeping RedLnx free doesn’t make developing it free. Contributions help cover the tools, hardware and time it takes to keep going.
There’s one application. Paying doesn’t buy a better version. It helps me keep making this one.
Support the workOne more thing.
My actual life goal is to take a photograph as good as the Windows XP wallpaper. Everything after that is still on the to-do list.
